The Sport Committee has undertaken a further detailed review of possible events for 2021.
Bearing in mind that we are only now just at Step 1 of the Governments return to activity programme and with ongoing uncertainty at each Step, it was felt that the first important priority is for Surf Lifesaving Clubs and members to get back to local club activity on their own beaches with the focus on getting fit and confident and having fun.
This will be the central theme for all our events in 2021.
Accordingly, it was decided that we will not hold any National Championships this year.
Through June and July, Cornwall, Devon and Wessex are planning to run local Twilight and 1 day events. Some events will be closed to Region members only. Cornwall will run the Max Hocking event for Nippers. All are planning to have events for Youth, Open, Senior and Masters. Wessex is planning a 2 day event in July open to all with Nippers on Saturday and Youth on Sunday. As we progress through further Government Steps permitting more activity, each Region will add and confirm the final details for their events and as soon as confirmed they will be posted on a National Calendar at www.slsgb.org.uk
On the 18th and 19th September it is planned that SLSGB will hold the
British Surf Lifesaving Summer Festival at Perranporth – An Individual and Team Fun Event with no limit on entries for the “Open” age Group (Must be 16 this year)
There will be no overall Club Points Aggregate Awards – Just for the fun and bragging rights!
Medals will be awarded for the Individual events that take place on Saturday 18th September.

Pool Event in October
On the 30th and 31st October we have an Option to use the K9 Pool at Crawley that would include a SERC event. This will not be a Nationals. We will consult with Club Team Managers and others further to undertake a more detailed planning. If this goes ahead it will only be open to SLSGB Clubs.
The decisions made are to provide clarity now and to focus on a sensible, proportionate and affordable return to sport with the emphasis on participation and fun.
We will return to National Level events in 2022 and Branksome have already confirmed they will host our Nationals between the 13th and 20th August so if you have accommodation reserved this year you can ask to roll this over rather than loose a deposit.
