SLSGB BEACH SAFETY WARDEN

Over the Bank Holiday weekend 122 Volunteer Beach Wardens in 29 locations undertook over 700 dry side interventions

THIS IS NOW OPEN TO MORE OF OUR LIFESAVERS WHO HAVE THE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE TO TAKE ON THIS ROLE

We are calling for more volunteers to be deployed as soon as possible to undertake a safety advisory service to beach users at a time when our beaches are increasingly busy to stop people needing to be rescued.

Applications are now invited from TA’s who have trained the Lifeguard or Surf Lifesaver awards and from those who have held the award in recent years, but did not renew their award or are unable to meet the swim times.

The Beach Warden is an at a “safe distance” volunteer activity following COVID-19 guidance to observe the beach, beach surrounds and close inshore ocean area to provide relevant safety advice to beach users and to be able to call in outside rescue/CPR help when needed.

THIS IS AN IMMEDIATE AND URGENT REQUIREMENT
