Introducing the first SLSGB Duke of Edinburgh Participants from Saunton Sands

We are very excited to announce that Saunton Sands SLSC have now enrolled their first participants as an official Duke of Edinburgh Centre affiliated by SLSGB. Pictured (from left to right) is Gus Dunbavin, Francesca Ansdell, Kane Shaw, Morgan and Alex Howgate. All 5 of these participants are taking on the challenge of achieving their Silver DofE award. The Duke of Edinburgh awards are a fun adventure and major challenge, with three progressive Award levels (Bronze, Silver and Gold) and a wide range of activities that can be done, including everything that you do on club nights at your surf life saving club, which offers endless possibilities to anyone aged 14 to 24. Millions of young people in the UK have already taken part in the world’s leading youth achievement award – pushing personal boundaries, gaining new skills and enhancing their CVs and university applications. We would like to take this opportunity to wish the Saunton Sands participants a massive ‘Good Luck’ on this challenge and we look forward to sharing their progress with you all.

Saunton DofEDofE broadens horizons, skills and friendships – so in the meantime if your club wants to become a Duke of Edinburgh training centre get involved now. Your participants will be guaranteed a fun and rewarding journey where the junior members of your club will grow in confidence and become more independent, achieving a DofE Award opens doors to education and employment opportunities for any young person. They will be given the chance to volunteer, get fit, learn, and go on expeditions… it’s one amazing adventure after another that they will never forget.
