North Norfolk SLSC dash to the loo!

North Norfolk Surf Life Saving club now have a new home, thanks to some dilapidated public toilets.

The toilets, which were deemed unfit for purpose and closed in May 2006, have now become home to a new surf shop and a base the North Norfolk Surf Lifesaving Club after undergoing an extensive refurbishment.

Adam Frere-Smith, fundraising officer for North Norfolk Surf Lifesaving Club, said “we’re all all looking forward to getting into the building, as  our previous home was little more than a shed!”.

Frere-Smith added: “It has been five years of dedication to get this and I really appreciate what the council have done.”

The new premises, complete with showers and changing rooms, will be kitted out with a £20,000 grant from the Big Lottery Fund and Sport England and as well as providing a training base for beach lifeguards, it is also hoped to provide water safety lessons for local school children.
