Congratulations to Bournemouth Lifeguard Corps, Branksome Chine SLSC, Croyde SLSC, Crantock SLSC, Hayle SLSC, Harlyn SLSC, Jackson’s Bay SLSC, Lusty SLSC, Saunton Sands SLSC, Southbourne/Bournemouth SLSU, Perranporth SLSC and Weymouth Canoe Lifeguards.

Ranging from £500 to £3500, the grants are to help a range of specific projects within the clubs, from training to building work, or for buying new equipment. Many clubs will use the funding to improve equipment resources; increase the pool of SLSGB volunteer lifeguards; or to focus on increasing membership through a range of programmes, some with a particular focus on certain target groups. Crantock SLSC will use the funding to run a project aimed at improving water confidence and knowledge of local women and mothers, providing them with basic rescue skills.

More than half of clubs that applied were successful in being awarded funding, and for those that were not, or who missed out on this occasion, there is much more help available to access funding. Our centre development team will keep you informed of funding opportunities that become available, but currently we would advise clubs investigate the following: Sport England Small Grants, Sportsmatch, Awards4All
