Whitsand Bay Surf Life Saving Club

Through challenging and exciting training, we aim to develop excellence in our members in global surf lifesaving techniques including sea rescues, inshore rescue boat training, first aid and beach fitness. There is also a social aspect to the club with the barbecue and beach volleyball making a regular appearance throughout the summer!

Located on the beach at Tregonhawke Beach, Whitsand Bay, we provide activities and training to young people aged 7 and upward with a clear progression toward professional beach lifeguard training and qualifications for the seniors aged 16 and upward through our commercial partner Adventure Bay Surf School.

Within the club we have three groups, Nippers aged 7 upwards, Juniors aged 12 upwards and Seniors aged 16 upwards. As each member develops, they start to build a foundation of skills, knowledge and confidence achieved through fun yet challenging activities. When they reach 15-16 they are able to complete qualifications to become Beach Lifeguards. Our club also trains a team for the Inshore Rescue Boat Competitions (IRB). Last year the club won several gold medals in various categories in the British & European Championships.
