Professor Mike Tipton awarded MBE by Her Majesty The Queen at a ceremony held at Windsor Castle

Surf Life Saving GB Trustee, Professor Mike Tipton, has been awarded the MBE by Her Majesty The Queen at a ceremony held at Windsor Castle on 16th February 2018 for services to research and teaching in extreme environmental physiology and research in drowning prevention.

A much-valued trustee of SLSGB for the last 5 years, Mike has supported the search and rescue and lifesaving activity of the charity.  His knowledge and research in drowning and immersion has been applied to our lifeguard prevention and rescue strategy and is incorporated in all lifesaving, lifeguarding and first aid aquatic education, a key intervention for making our beaches, clubs and communities safer.

He has generously given time to help with the development of the charities strategy, governance, education and rescue activities. Mike is regarded by our members and the wider Surf Life Saving Community as an extremely special person.  Our members and those that they serve have benefited greatly from his incredible input during the time he has been a part of SLSGB.

SLSGB thanks Mike for all that he does and congratulates him for this very much deserved award. We are all immensely proud of your achievement!
