Nine members of Devon SLSGB Flood Response Unit have just completed the specialist rescue operation ‘Flood Rescue Technician’ course with the Academy. This is the benchmark training for flood and moving water rescue teams required to carry out rescues in the flood environment as part of a rescue team.
The course was over two weekends and 4 long days, some at the River Dart Country Park, Devon
Flood Acadamy Principal David Lane commented:-
“This group of Lifesavers from Devon Region displayed an outstanding ability to adapt to the flood environment and in particular, the speed taken to assimilate the technical aspects of rescue in fast moving water was exceptional – This augers well for our Surf Life Saving teams involvement with Inland SAR activity”
